Second Week of Class

Writing was never my strongest skills, I can not even say it was a skill at all because of how bad I am with English.  This class has already opened my eyes to the small things I could be doing to help me achieve the main goal of being able to write properly. I do keep a writing journal that I have started a few years ago, and I write in it a few times a month.  I write anything from what I did that day, to how I was feeling, what I ate, my exercises, or anything that I think I need to start doing. With writing in the journal I thought that my skills would improve, but I soon realized that I did not need to write more, I need to learn the correct way to write.  When I write in my journal I use slang and I do not use correct grammar, which was a bad habit that I started.  Once I decided to start writing on a computer and have the computer help me understand the mistakes I was making, that made me want to go back and correct myself. It made me start to analyze my writing instead of just putting pen to paper. I have a lot more to learn, and I can not wait to be able to put what I learn to use, not only in writing but in every aspect of my life.

  1. Hi Maggie,

Writing and reading are my weaknesses. I used to have a journal but after I graduated from college I was more busy. Instead I decided to listen to podcast because it would help me relax and clear my mind. I think it would be a good idea and go back to your journal and just try to correct what you wrote just as practice like we do in class.
